A Global Sporting Milestone
This prestigious event highlights how fitness programs combining strength training, cardio, and agility exercises are gaining immense popularity, not just among regular gym-goers but also as a professional sport. The Madrid Challenger Series will host competitors from 20 different countries in five distinct categories: Elite Men, Elite Women, Elite Team, RX Team, and Master +35.
With a total prize pool exceeding 70,000 euros, this competition is particularly significant because, for the first time, the prize money is equal for both male and female athletes.
“It’s something that should have happened long ago,”
says Sofía Miranda, a representative of the Madrid City Council, reflecting the growing push for equality in sports.
In addition to the main competition, there will be talks and workshops on topics like fitness training, sponsored by well-known brands such as PicSil, Eleiko, and Foodspring. Attendees can enjoy demonstrations and training sessions led by two-star athletes: Annie Thorisdottir, a two-time champion of major international fitness competitions, and Ray Zapata, an Olympic medalist from the Tokyo 2020 games.
Spain’s Rising Stars
This year, Spain has a strong presence in the competition. In the Elite Women category, watch out for Elena Carratalá, the first Spanish woman to compete in international fitness events, as well as Silvia García (aka Sepius), who came close to the podium in the last Challenger Series. The Training Culture Team, led by renowned athlete Pablo Cazalis, is one of the top contenders in the Elite Team category.
For Madrid residents, tickets are now available, priced at 14.90 euros per day (9 euros for children). Alternatively, you can purchase a pack for all three days.
Important: For those who can’t attend in person, the event will also be streamed live on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch.
